Under unusually mild winter weather, the annual gathering of officers from all churches and groups of the Quebec Conference took place on January 18, 2026, at Cégep André-Laurendeau.

This year, a special novelty delighted participants: upon arrival, many were able to visit the booths of the various departments in the exhibition hall, where a variety of items were offered.

The Convention officially opened in the auditorium with a welcome address from the president, in front of nearly 400 participants.

Highlights

A Meditation Focused on Transformation by the Treasurer of the Canadian Union

The meditation, presented by the Treasurer of the Canadian Union, Paul Musafili, invited participants to continually seek the presence of Christ so that the Gospel they preach aligns with their lifestyle.

He emphasized that the effectiveness of ministry depends on visible transformation in the lives of believers, noting that true strength comes from the union of divine power and human effort.

Report of the President of the Quebec Conference

The president, Pastor Ngoy Kyala, began his report by recalling the five-year theme:

“Disciple, Spiritually Ready, I WILL GO”

  • Mission: To foster Christian maturity so that members can share the distinctive message of hope and wholeness of the Seventh-day Adventists.
  • Vision: Every church member is empowered and active in a ministry according to their spiritual gifts and sphere of influence.

He then presented the Conference’s organizational structure, divided into the front line, support line, and guidance line.

He highlighted the concrete work of the departments in the field and pointed out several major accomplishments:

  • It Is Written
  • Progress on the evangelism project in Saint Pierre and Miquelon
  • The Reconnected project
  • The development of the Lac Caché Estate, currently flourishing

Using an illustration, the president addressed the challenge of cultural diversity, inviting churches to distinguish the Gospel from cultural traditions. He also raised the issue of diversity in worship.

Religious Freedom

The president presented the issues related to Bill 9, concerning the reinforcement of secularism in Quebec, and its impact on churches and religious schools.

Some aspects of the law are currently suspended following several discussions. The Seventh-day Adventist Church Quebec Conference will submit a specific brief to assert its rights before Parliament in February 2026.

Looking ahead, Pastor Kyala encouraged churches to:

  • strengthen public relations,
  • increase the visibility of places of worship,
  • demonstrate the relevance of the Church to society.
