What do families look like today? And how can we be there for them when they face difficulties? On September 5 and 6, these questions brought together 60 people from 18 churches, including churches in Québec City, for our first training event for Family Ministries leaders.
Dr. César De León and Carolann De León invited us to see families as they are, in all their diversity. Their presentation Serving and Strengthening Families showed how much a church’s welcome and support can matter, especially when family wounds are passed from one generation to the next. In Imago Dei and Relationships Are Everything, they reminded us that we were created to live in relationship with God and with one another. Loving, forgiving and caring for those who are hurting are ways we can reflect His character.
Dr. Marianne Lemay spoke about a subject that is too often left unspoken: infertility. By explaining its causes and the options available, she helped us better understand this experience and respond to those facing it with sensitivity.
