The first day of school at Greaves Adventist Academy was a beautiful reminder that a school is much more than a building—it is a community filled with people, dreams, hope, and purpose. On the morning of August 26th, 2026, the school came alive with the sounds of welcoming voices, laughter, excitement, and, of course, a few nervous faces. It was a day filled with anticipation, joy, and the promise of a wonderful new school year.

From the moment families arrived, there was a sense that something special was happening. Some students walked through the gate with bright smiles and excitement, eager to see their friends and meet their teachers. Others appeared a little nervous, wondering what the new school year would bring. For some, there was a mixture of both nervousness and anticipation. Whatever emotions they carried with them, they were welcomed with warmth and encouragement.

Our teachers played an important part in creating the festive atmosphere. They worked together to decorate the school yard with colourful balloons and welcoming banners, transforming the entrance into a cheerful celebration. Their efforts communicated an important message before a single lesson was taught: You are welcome here. You belong here. We are happy to see you.

One of the highlights of the morning was our First Day of School Welcome Back Photo Booth. Parents and students had the opportunity to take pictures together and capture a special memory of the beginning of another school year. The smiles, poses, laughter, and family moments created memories that will be treasured long after the first day has passed. These photographs captured more than faces; they captured the joy of families returning to a place where their children will learn, grow, and flourish.

Another truly exciting part of the morning was seeing members of our Conference ADCOM arriving early to support our staff and students. Their presence was deeply appreciated and demonstrated the strength of our wider Adventist community. Seeing them there so early in the morning sent a powerful message to our teachers: You are not alone. Your work matters, and we are here to support you.

As we reflected on the day, we were reminded that every new school year is an opportunity for a fresh beginning. At Greaves Adventist Academy, we are committed to making this a year of hope, growth, excellence, and joy, grounded in our Christian values. We want every student to know that they are valued, capable, and created by God with purpose.

The first day may have come with a few nervous faces, but it ended with many more smiles. It was a day filled with connection, celebration, support, and gratitude. Most importantly, it was the beginning of a journey we will take together as one Greaves Adventist Academy family.

What a wonderful way to begin the school year! We look forward with faith and excitement to all that God has in store for our students, our teachers, our families, and our entire school community.
